SentBe met its user, Mohammad Layek Miah, in Ansan, Korea, January 2021 and listened to his life in Korea and what he has been planning and pursuing for the future. Here's a very inspiring story about him.

SentBe: How did you come to Korea?

Mohammad: I studied business administration and worked as an intern at a microfinance institution in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, people who can't use bank mainly use microfinance institutions. I went to rural areas time to time where there weren't many banks and provided customer service by explaining financial products. when my father passed away, it became difficult for my family to make a living. I saw a job advertisement in the newspaper and decided to come to Korea.

SentBe: How has your life been in Korea so far?

Mohammad: When I first came to Korea, I worked for a company that made rebar, but I took two months off due to bankruptcy. Fortunately, the Employment Permit System (ESP) in Korea gave me a chance to get a job, so I was able to get a job again. Now I work for a company that makes tapes and sponges. In our factory, multinational colleagues from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia are working together and relying on each other a lot.

SentBe: How has your remittance been used so far?

Mohammad: Around half of my monthly salary in Korea is sent to my mother and mainly used for family living expenses. I also save up for my future.

SentBe: What is your future plan?

Mohammad: What do I want to do in the future? I want to start a business in 5 years with my cousin who runs a rental business. I think it would be great if we can do the business together. Above all, I would like to go back to Bangladesh and live with my family, rather than working in Korea for a longer period.

SentBe found Mohammad's face is filled with bright smile all the time when he told us about what he has been achieving and dreaming while living and working in Korea. SentBe is greatly proud of his life journey and will be always supporting his goal to be achieved. SentBe is thrilled to look forward to what to come in his near future!
