Sentbe' Business Impact Group met its user, Relung Arifin, in Busan in August, 2020 and listened to his life in Korea and what he has been planning and pursuing for the future. Here's a very inspiring story about him.

Sentbe: How long have you been living in Korea? What made you come to Korea?

Relung: I came to Korea in 2012 from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It has been almost 8 years. At that time, I was early 20s and now I am 29 years old. Time flies so fast. My father passed away in 2015 and I have been the only one carrying out economic activities in my family since then. Prior to coming here, I was working as an engineer in Indonesia. At that time, going to Korea to work was not that popular but I found it is a great opportunity for me as well as my family in many senses.

Sentbe: How has your life been in Korea so far?

Relung: When I first arrived in Korea, I started working at a metal foundry in Changwon. I worked there for 6 years. In 2018, I moved to Busan and have been working at a fishcake manufacturer. I have been earning a higher income in Korea compared to when I was in Indonesia. Of my income, I send about USD 1,000 monthly to home. This regular remittance has enabled one of my sisters to pursue study at university in Indonesia and she will be finishing her study next year. Another sister is also going to enter into a college next year. My remittance has also been the major source of my family's livelihood. I also put some money apart from my remittance since I am also enrolled to a cyber university here in Korea.

Sentbe: Studying while working seems to be struggling, isn't it?

Relung: I started to take courses on economy and management from 2013. Working and studying at the same time is quite challenging but I really enjoy learning. I have about two more years to stay and work in Korea. When returning to home, I would like to do business. That's why I have been studying. It's a part of my efforts in preparing my future. My cousin who already owns a textile factory wants me to join his business. In addition, I would like to start my own business running dormitories. To do so, I am also trying to save more and spend less to secure required funds for my future business while living in Korea.

Sentbe found Relung's face is filled with bright smile all the time when he told us about what he has been achieving and dreaming while living and working in Korea. Sentbe is greatly proud of his life journey and will be always supporting his goal to be achieved. Sentbe is thrilled to look forward to what to come in his near future!
