SentBe met its user, Sapida Rodel in Seoul, May 2021 and listened to his life in Korea and what he has been planning and pursuing for the future. Here's a very inspiring story about him.

SentBe: What did you do in China before coming to Korea?
Sapida: In the Pilippines, I was motorcycle driver before coming to Korea. One day, one of my friend who was working in Korea recommended me to find a job in Korea. He said I could earn much higher income in Korea than in my hometown.

SentBe: How has your life been in Korea so far?
Sapida: The global pandemic started about a half year after my arrival in Korea and I had been worried a lot at that time. However, I've been working in a Covid-safe environment. Even during the Covid-19, I was able to regularly send money to my wife in the Philippines. She is in charge of its expenditure mainly covering my family's daily living expenses and my four children's education. With the money we saved, we were able to purchase a house where my wife and four children currently live.

SentBe: How is your remittance used in the Philippines?
Sapida: My income earned in Korea is 5 times more than what I had earned in the Philippines. Literally, it's huge. I regularly send about 600,000 KRW, approximately 600 USD. Sometimes I send bigger amount ranging from 1,000,000 KRW (1,000 USD) to 5,000,000 KRW (5,000 USD). My wife is in charge of managing the remittance. Mostly we spend the remittance for living expenses and education for kids. We purchased our family house too.

SentBe: What is your future plan?
Sapida: The business plan is not yet concrete, but when I return to the Philippines, I'd like to start my own business. To start a business, of course, I need to save quite a bit of money, but I believe I could plan my business funds well. During the rest of my stay as a migrant worker in Korea, I'd like to make a more detailed business plan which would be my next new journey.

SentBe found Sapida's face is filled with bright smile all the time when he told us about what he has been achieving and dreaming while living and working in Korea. SentBe is greatly proud of his life journey and will be always supporting her goal to be achieved. SentBe is thrilled to look forward to what to come in his near future!
