[User Stories] In search of a world beyond Himalaya

SentBe met its user, Pandey Navin, in Seoul, December 2020 and listened to his life in Korea and what he has been planning and pursuing for the future. Here's a very inspiring story about him.

SentBe: What did you do in Nepal before coming to Korea?

Pandey: I got a master's degree in business administration in Nepal and worked for a while as a teacher in middle school.

SentBe: What made you come to Korea?

Pandey: My hometown is near Pokhara, where the Himalayas can be seen at a glance, but as it is a small town, I didn't have many choices when I sought for a job. I believed I could see a bigger world and work stably if I come to Korea.

SentBe: How has your life been in Korea so far?

Pandey: I greatly struggled to adopt myself to a new environment abroad and to first start painting works. Nevertheless, such difficult times have made me learn that I can overcome any challenges ahead. Now I can say I am a skilled mechanic in spray gun painting.

SentBe: How has your remittance been used so far?

Pandey: About 85% of the money I earned in Korea is sent to my family every month to support their living expenses and education for younger siblings. With my remittance, my family was able to purchase 1,000m² lands a few months ago. We plan to build our own house there. To do so, I've been continually saving and sending money to home.

SentBe: What is your future plan?

Pandey: I would like to run my own business when I return to Pakistan. I haven't specified a business item but with my brother who graduated MBA in Pakistan and know well bout local markets and demands, I will be making mid- and long-term plan.

SentBe found Pandey's face is filled with bright smile all the time when he told us about what he has been achieving and dreaming while living and working in Korea.
